Inside Peter Grubb hut there was a guitar.
My dad met me at highway 80 and I got off trail for a few days. When he gave me a ride back we decided to hike to the Peter Grubb hut, which he had gone to many times as a young man. As you can see the door is on the second story, that is so people can access the hut during the winter when the snow pack covers the first story.
For the 8 miles leading up to Sugar Bowl and Donner Ski Ranch I could hear trains. When I finally saw day hikers I knew I was close, then as i saw the train I knew I was at old Highway 80.
Walking along the Sierra Crest, you can see the trail running along the tops of these mountains. To the right is a few Ski areas, to the left is the “out of bounds” areas.

Passing through Squaw Valley I got a chance to see the gondola running.
